Under the patronage of the Deanship of the College of Engineering, the Department of Computer Engineering at the University of Baghdad organized a seminar entitled “Ethical Hacking Concepts” on Monday, 19 January 2026. The seminar was delivered by Lecturer Dr. Ahmed Ubaid Salman in the department’s discussion hall, and was attended by a number of faculty members.

The seminar aimed to introduce participants to the concepts of ethical hacking and the fundamentals of information security, and to highlight their importance in protecting data and systems. It addressed the practical aspects of hacking and the methods used by cyber attackers to identify and exploit vulnerabilities in order to breach systems and networks, with a focus on detecting weaknesses before they can be exploited by hackers.

The seminar concluded with several practical recommendations, most notably enhancing awareness of information security fundamentals, understanding cyberattack methods, and conducting periodic penetration testing to ensure the safety of devices and software and to protect systems from electronic threats.

This seminar comes as part of the efforts of the Department of Computer Engineering to promote digital culture and cybersecurity awareness, and to encourage students and faculty members to adopt safe practices when dealing with information systems.
