The College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad held its fourth council meeting for the academic year 2025–2026 on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, chaired by Prof. Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul-Majeed, Dean of the College, and attended by the assistant deans and heads of scientific departments.

The meeting addressed several important academic and administrative topics, including the promotion of a number of faculty members, the exemption of some assistant lecturers from promotion requirements, as well as the approval of joint supervision research projects, the termination of certain academic affiliations, and the postponement of study for some students. The council also discussed mechanisms to support the “Engineering Journal” and ways to enhance its academic standing and international visibility.

In a separate part of the meeting, the company “Al-Siraj Al-Mudhaee” delivered a comprehensive presentation before the college council, showcasing a range of advanced digital transformation and electronic management solutions. The presentation included a detailed overview of digital archiving and document management systems, as well as barcode and smart ID card issuance technologies, which aim to streamline administrative processes and improve institutional efficiency within the college.

The company’s representatives also demonstrated a set of AI-powered interactive smart displays, explaining their potential applications in supporting the educational process through interactive teaching, real-time engagement between instructors and students, and use in academic presentations and laboratory sessions, marking a step toward smart learning integration within the college’s departments.

The session featured a productive discussion between the council members and the company’s representatives, during which department heads presented several inquiries and proposals regarding the integration of these technologies into the college’s infrastructure and the possibility of training academic and technical staff on their use. The council expressed great interest in the proposed digital solutions, viewing them as an important step toward achieving comprehensive digital transformation at the College of Engineering and the University of Baghdad.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to continue coordination with the company to review the technical details of the proposals and develop a phased implementation plan aimed at enhancing both administrative efficiency and educational quality through the adoption of modern digital technologies across the college’s operations.
