The College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad witnessed the public discussion of a master’s student (Sarah Saad Mohammed) from the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering about her thesis entitled “Spectral and Energy Efficiency Enhancement of Cell-Free Massive MIMO”. On Thursday, April 18, 2024, in the discussion hall in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Aqiel N. Al-Mamori.
Where thesis aimed to Study the problem of energy consumption and provide solutions to improve energy efficiency by reducing overall energy use while maintaining good quality of service, thus contributing to the development of the field of green communications.
The thesis also included Optimizing the energy allocated to each user using convex approximation method with precoding.
Accordingly, the thesis/thesis came out with a set of recommendations, including:
- The development of efficient technologies for advanced communications networks like CF-mMIMO is essential to long-term growth
- Applying power control using the sequential convex approximation method with zero-forcing precoding, the results show that the method can always converge to a solution when taking multiple scenarios of users and APs. This shows the reliability of the approach used. The effectiveness of this method is demonstrated also by comparing it with the uniform power allocation method, where the presented method considerably improves the EE.
- Achieving green communication by AP selection technique is a key focus nowadays but efficient data transfer rate, which is represented by the total SE, is another important metric of every communication system.
After scientific discussion by the members of the discussion committee, listening to the researcher’s defense, and evaluating the thesis/dissertation, the researcher was awarded a master’s degree in Electronics and Communication engineering.
