As part of efforts to enhance students’ readiness for the labor market and to exchange scientific and practical expertise, the Department of Electronic and Communications Engineering at the University of Baghdad organized a training workshop entitled “Post-Graduation Prospects for Students of Electronic and Communications Engineering” on Thursday, 8 January 2026. The workshop was delivered by graduates Taha Osama and Ruqayya Safaa, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Aqeel Naama Zaian and Assistant Professor Dr. Bilal Rabah.

The workshop aimed to provide students with a comprehensive overview of the various branches of electronic and communications engineering, their scientific and practical requirements, and the mechanisms of work in each field, in addition to outlining the essential conditions and skills that enhance graduates’ chances of securing suitable future employment. The presenters also shared their academic and professional experiences and offered a set of guidance and advice based on labor market requirements, which enriched the workshop content and enhanced student interaction through discussions and questions.

The workshop addressed several important themes, most notably reducing students’ anxiety and confusion regarding the post-graduation phase, and highlighting the available academic and professional pathways, whether research-oriented or career-oriented. These pathways covered multiple fields, including networks, communications, electrical engineering, and cybersecurity, as well as other specializations such as programming and artificial intelligence.

At the conclusion of the workshop, emphasis was placed on the importance of developing personal skills, keeping pace with modern technological developments, and early planning for building a professional career, in a way that enhances students’ opportunities for effective integration into the labor market and securing jobs aligned with their academic specializations.
