As part of its efforts to keep pace with technological developments in the educational process, and in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, the Department of Energy Engineering organized an awareness-raising scientific workshop for its students. The workshop discussed the role of smart devices and recorded electronic lectures in university classrooms, addressing the central question: Do they represent an effective educational tool or an obstacle to academic interaction? The workshop was delivered by Lecturer Dr. Wasan Diaa.
The workshop aimed to enhance the use of electronic and digital learning tools in the educational process and to improve the quality of university education by providing an interactive learning environment based on visual, interactive, and recorded electronic content. This allows students to revisit lectures as a supportive academic resource for the course and contributes to raising the level of interaction and active participation within university classrooms.
The workshop addressed mechanisms for employing smart devices and recorded electronic lectures in higher education, highlighting their positive impact when used in a well-planned manner, while also discussing the challenges that may affect academic interaction and ways to mitigate them.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the lecturer recommended expanding the adoption of modern educational technologies as supportive tools for face-to-face learning, organizing training programs for students and faculty members on the optimal use of smart devices in university classrooms, and emphasizing the importance of achieving a balance between e-learning and in-person education to ensure the enhancement—rather than the decline—of academic interaction.
