In a new academic achievement, the University of Baghdad has achieved remarkable progress in the QS World University Rankings 2025, ranking first among six Iraqi universities included in the classification. This accomplishment reaffirms the university’s leading position in higher education and scientific research at both the national and international levels.

This year’s results also highlight the continued excellence of the Department of Petroleum Engineering – College of Engineering, University of Baghdad, which has maintained its distinguished global standing within the (51–100) band in the field of Petroleum Engineering, as well as first place among all departments of the university. This success adds to a long record of achievements made possible by the dedicated efforts of the faculty members, the high academic performance of the students, and the department’s strong alignment with the needs of the oil and energy sector.

On this occasion, Prof. Samira Mohammed Hamdallah, Head of the Department of Petroleum Engineering, expressed her pride in this accomplishment, emphasizing that the department will continue to strengthen its academic position by developing its curricula and expanding research collaboration with local and international institutions.
