Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr Ghassan Hamid Abdulmajid, and the supervision of the Head of the Department of Water Resources Engineering, Professor Dr Basim Shaba Abed, the Department of Water Resources Engineering, in collaboration with the Psychological Counselling and Guidance Unit and the Continuing Education Unit, held a workshop titled “Artificial Intelligence: Pros and Cons for University Students.”
The workshop was conducted by Dr Alaa Hassan, Assistant Lecturer Alaa Abdulhadi Abbas, Assistant Lecturer Hussein Fadel Hussein, Assistant Lecturer Zina Kamel Rashid, and Assistant Lecturer Tayba Hussein Mzall. The event was part of the Psychological Counselling and Educational Guidance Committee’s activities in the Department of Water Resources Engineering and took place on Wednesday, 12 February 2025, at 12:00 PM in the Dijla Hall, Department of Water Resources Engineering.

Dr Alaa Hassan Naama discussed the importance of artificial intelligence and its key applications in water resources.
Assistant Lecturer Zina Kamel highlighted AI applications in education, focusing on how it can enhance students’ learning, administrative, and personal skills.
Assistant Lecturer Hussein Fadel and Assistant Lecturer Alaa Abdulhadi presented AI in a way that reflects its scientific advancements in water resources and geospatial applications.
Assistant Lecturer Tayba Hussein addressed the health-related applications of AI and its psychological impact on university students.
The workshop concluded with several recommendations, including the continuous development and training on modern AI technologies, as well as monitoring and controlling technology usage.
The event was attended by several faculty members, staff, and students from the department.
