Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdulmajeed, the Department of Computer Engineering at University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, organized a workshop entitled “Linguistic Errors in Official Correspondence” on Monday, February 16, 2026, in the department’s discussion hall.

The workshop was delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Iman Hussein Mohi, in the presence of the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Wameedh Nizar Flaih, along with a number of faculty members and administrative staff of the department.

The workshop aimed to raise participants’ awareness of common linguistic and spelling errors in official correspondence and their impact on the professionalism and credibility of administrative documents. It also provided practical recommendations to ensure high-quality drafting.

The session concluded with several key recommendations, including adherence to proper linguistic and spelling standards when preparing official letters, careful proofreading prior to issuance, and the use of clear and precise drafting styles. It also emphasized promoting a culture of linguistic review among staff and faculty members, and the importance of applying these recommendations in daily practice to ensure professionalism in official correspondence and enhance administrative and linguistic standards in the workplace.
