Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul Majeed, and under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Anmar Hamid Ali, Head of the Aeronautical Engineering Department, and in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit and the Qualification, Employment, and Follow-up Unit at the College of Engineering – University of Baghdad, the Aeronautical Engineering Department organized a scientific and training workshop entitled:

“From the Classroom to the Labor Market: The Entrepreneurial Experience”

The workshop was held as part of the activities of Entrepreneurship Week in the Smart Hall of the Aeronautical Engineering Department, in the presence of several faculty members and students. The lectures were delivered by Dr. Mohammed Zuhair Abdulameer and Assistant Lecturer Noor Abdulameer Abdulkarim.

The workshop addressed the concept of transitioning from the academic environment to the labor market through adopting the entrepreneurial experience as a contemporary career path aligned with the evolving demands and dynamics of the job market. The lectures emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship in transforming academic knowledge into practical projects that contribute to job creation and support the national economy.

The workshop also reviewed the key entrepreneurial skills required by students and graduates, as well as the challenges they may face at the beginning of their professional careers. Practical solutions were proposed to overcome these challenges, alongside highlighting inspiring entrepreneurial experiences and promising fields that students may pursue in the future.

The workshop concluded with several important findings, including that entrepreneurship represents an effective career option that complements traditional employment paths, and that a graduate’s success depends on their ability to integrate academic knowledge with practical application. It also stressed the importance of possessing personal and entrepreneurial skills such as creative thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork. Furthermore, the workshop underscored the role of qualification and employment units in supporting students and graduates throughout their transition into the labor market.

This workshop is part of a series of scientific and awareness activities regularly organized by the Aeronautical Engineering Department, aiming to enhance professional awareness, foster entrepreneurial thinking among students, and prepare them to engage confidently and competently in the labor market.
