The Department of Electrical Engineering at the College of Engineering, University of Baghdad, organized a scientific field visit on Monday, December 1, 2025, for fourth-year students to the under-construction Rixos Hotel project in the capital, Baghdad. The students were accompanied by Prof. Dr. Firas Mohammed Tuaima, Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, along with a number of faculty members, who supervised the visit, guided the students, and addressed their engineering inquiries.

The visit aimed to link theoretical knowledge with practical application and to familiarize students with the latest engineering technologies used in major construction projects, particularly those related to complex electrical installations and systems in luxury hotels.

During the visit, students were introduced to the stages of implementing electrical systems in the hotel, including power distribution systems, smart control and lighting systems, as well as low-current systems such as fire alarm systems, surveillance cameras, and data and communication networks.

Prof. Dr. Firas Mohammed Tuaima emphasized that “these field visits are an essential part of the educational process to prepare qualified electrical engineers for the labor market,” noting that the visit comes within the framework of the College of Engineering’s efforts to strengthen cooperation with the private sector and provide students with the best practical experiences.
