Under the auspices of the respected Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul Majid, and in implementation of the plan of the Educational and Psychological Guidance Committee for the Department of Mechanical Engineering, in cooperation with the Psychological Guidance and Educational Counseling Unit in our college, the Department of Mechanical Engineering joyfully held a reception for the newly admitted students in the Mechanical Engineering Department for the new academic year 2024/2025 on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. Most of the faculty members, engineers, administrators, and students from the Mechanical Engineering Department participated in this special event to welcome the new students in the first level of the Bologna process. The event was attended by the respected Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Sadiq Salman, who delivered a welcoming speech and provided some guidance to the newly admitted students in the Mechanical Engineering Department for this academic year. Ms. Hiba Muayyad Mohammed, the respected Director of the Educational and Psychological Guidance Division at the College of Engineering, also participated in this event and delivered an important welcoming and introductory speech, praising this wonderful initiative and its significant role in enhancing the psychological and educational level of students, especially after their transition from secondary education to university. The event also included the participation of representatives from the Educational and Psychological Guidance Department at the presidency of the University of Baghdad. The ceremony opened with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran delivered by one of the students, followed by a welcoming speech by the head of the department, Assistant Professor Dr. Karim Hassan Ali, who praised the role of the College of Engineering’s administration in providing logistical and material support for the continuation of the scientific path and achieving educational goals. This was followed by an informative lecture on the Bologna Process delivered by the esteemed Chairman of the Bologna Process Implementation Committee in the Mechanical Engineering Department, Professor Dr. Mohsen Al-Shammari. Subsequently, there was a special lecture by the Student Guidance Committee in the department given by Assistant Professor Dr. Walid Al-Ishtari, in which he highlighted the community and market’s need for mechanical engineers.
