In an effort to strengthen academic communication and exchange scientific expertise, Professor Dr. Abbas Allawi, a faculty member of the Civil Engineering Department at the College of Engineering – University of Baghdad, chaired the Master’s thesis defense committee of the student Hawraa Al-Asadi from the Civil Engineering Department at Near East University, Cyprus, on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
The thesis aimed to evaluate the efficiency of using Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) in enhancing the punching shear resistance of flat reinforced concrete slabs, through advanced structural analysis. This research contributes to the development of modern and safe strengthening techniques for concrete structures in accordance with approved engineering standards.
This participation comes within the framework of the College of Engineering – University of Baghdad’s commitment to supporting scientific and research activities, and enhancing its active academic presence in international universities and forums.
