As part of the College of Engineering’s commitment to preparing its new students and familiarizing them with the latest academic updates and modern teaching methods adopted in Iraqi universities, the Petroleum Engineering Department at the University of Baghdad organized an introductory lecture on the Bologna educational system for first-year students on Monday, November 24, 2025.

The lecture was delivered by faculty members Dr. Farqad Ali Hadi and Ms. Enas Ajeel. It aimed to clarify the mechanisms, requirements, and differences between the Bologna System and traditional academic systems.

The lecture included a detailed explanation of the concept of courses and credit units, the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), the student’s role in this system, the nature of assessments, grading distribution, and the process of progressing between levels. The session also featured interactive discussions addressing students’ questions regarding GPA calculation, passing requirements, and the skills needed to adapt to the Bologna System.
