The College of Engineering Council held its sixth session at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, 10 January 2024, chaired by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Ghassan Hameed, and attended by the assistant deans and heads of scientific departments.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Dean and Council members welcomed Asst. Prof. Dr. Abbas Mohammed Burhan Al-Shammousi, congratulating him on assuming the duties of Administrative Assistant Dean and wishing him success in fulfilling his responsibilities.
The Dean and Council members also expressed their appreciation for the significant efforts made by Asst. Prof. Dr. Kareem Hassan during his tenure as Administrative Assistant Dean, extending their gratitude and recognition for his effective contributions.
In turn, Dr. Kareem Hassan expressed his thanks for the kind words and congratulated Dr. Abbas Al-Shammousi, wishing him success in his new role.
The Council then continued discussing its agenda, addressing several key issues related to the educational process and the performance of academic and administrative departments, including:
- Directing department heads to enhance the application of the Scientific Experience System to support high-quality academic performance.
- Discussing the skills development program for postgraduate students and encouraging their participation in conferences and academic events.
- Reviewing the scientific research plan and evaluating the progress and achievement rates of each department.
- Emphasizing the importance of publishing research in reputable international databases to ensure academic excellence.
- Approving the research titles for postgraduate students.
- Discussing the circumstances of certain students whose situations may justify postponement of their studies, to be considered with due care.
The Council also addressed several administrative matters related to the college.
In conclusion, the Dean, Prof. Dr. Ghassan Hameed, emphasized dedication to work and expressed his aspirations for continued future achievements in serving the college.
