Professor Dr. Ghassan Hameed Abdul Majeed, Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad, received Mr. Abbas Imran Al-Zubaidi, Director General of the Planning and Follow-up Department at the Ministry of Transport, on Sunday, April 27, 2025. The meeting was also attended by Professor Dr. Mervat Razzaq Al-Taie, faculty member in the Department of Civil Engineering. This visit comes within the framework of strengthening cooperation between the Ministry of Transport and the College of Engineering, and exploring ways to develop graduate programs and open new horizons for academic and research collaboration.

The meeting addressed several important topics, including enhancing the partnership between the university and the Ministry of Transport in graduate studies and applied research, exchanging expertise to support strategic plans for the development of the transport sector and infrastructure, and exploring the possibility of providing training and academic opportunities for students in relevant fields.

The Dean emphasized the college’s commitment to keeping pace with labor market needs and preparing national cadres capable of contributing to the college’s vision and developing effective cooperation to serve the goals of sustainable development.

The Ministry of Transport representative expressed his pleasure with the meeting, praising the pioneering role of the College of Engineering in preparing national competencies. He affirmed the ministry’s full readiness to support cooperation with the college in academic and research fields, especially concerning major transportation projects and maritime planning.

This visit aligns with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to enhance cooperation between academic institutions and governmental bodies and to build effective partnerships that contribute to achieving sustainable development.
