The College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad witnessed the public discussion of the master’s student (Sajjad  Kamel Khalaf) from the Civil Engineering Department on his thesis entitled (Performance of Skirted Foundation on Sandy Soil) on Wednesday, 27/11/2024, in Dr. Khaled Shaker Hall. Under the supervision of (Prof. Dr. Bushra S. Zbar)

The research aims to  study the behavior of flexible or rigid skirted foundations on loose sandy soil under the conditions of eccentricity and inclination loading. The flexible skirted foundations were taken into two classes : the multiple loosely skirted foundations and the loosely skirted foundations with and without reinforcement layers.

The results showed  that the best results can be obtained from rigid , multiple cylinders and loosely skirted foundations respectively

Accordingly, the research came out with a set of recommendations, including studying  the performance of flexible skirted foundations for different relative densities of soil, different diameters of foundation, near sand slope and with the existence of low cost filling materials

After scientific discussion by the respected members of the discussion committees and listening to the researcher’s defense, the researcher obtained a master’s degree in civil engineering /Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering with a grade of (Excellent).
