The Petroleum Engineering Department at the University of Baghdad organized an introductory workshop on program accreditation, presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Omar Faleh Al-Fatlawi, on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 9:00 AM, in the department’s discussion hall. The workshop was attended by the Head of the Petroleum Engineering Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Samira Muhammad Hamdallah, along with several faculty members.
The workshop discussed the importance of program accreditation in enhancing the quality of academic education and ensuring that programs comply with internationally recognized standards.
During the workshop, Dr. Omar Al-Fatlawi reviewed the key steps for obtaining program accreditation and the standards that the program must meet to improve educational outcomes and keep pace with labor market demands. He also highlighted the benefits of accreditation, including international recognition of degrees and enhancing the opportunities for the department’s graduates to secure jobs in the field of petroleum engineering.
The Head of the Petroleum Engineering Department praised the efforts made in organizing this workshop, emphasizing the importance of continuing to develop curricula and providing a comprehensive learning environment that meets accreditation standards and contributes to raising the academic achievement of students.
These introductory workshops aim to raise awareness among faculty members about the importance of academic accreditation and the procedures for achieving it, as part of the department’s strategy to promote quality and excellence in engineering education.
