as part of the scientific activities of the Mechanical Engineering Department. The Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Baghdad, under the sponsorship of Assistant Professor Dr. Karim Hassan Ali, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, held a workshop on “Engineering and Mechanical Drawing Using (SolidWorks)” presented by Dr. Haitham Hashim Al-Jawad on Monday, October 14, 2024, in the hall of Professor Dr. Ihsan Yahya, attended by a number of faculty members and students. The workshop included the following topics:
1. Informing attendees about the importance of computer-aided mechanical drawing in keeping up with scientific advancements using (SolidWorks).
2. Introducing attendees to the program’s opening screen, understanding the user interface, and providing a simplified explanation of essential topics in 3D design, as this program is one of the specialized software for 3D engineering drawing and is used for preparing mechanical design drawings and designing mold models.
The workshop concluded with a set of recommendations, including:
1. Adopting (SolidWorks) in the mechanical drawing course to strengthen students’ skills and enhance their ability to visualize and imagine mechanical systems.
2. This subject is considered one of the essential requirements for graduating students when applying for jobs in companies and institutions, as it is one of the most important skills required from engineers.
