The President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Baha Ibrahim Ensaf, honored the engineering departments and awarded them the Certificate of Excellence in recognition of the significant achievement by the Departments of Petroleum Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Architectural Engineering for achieving first place in the 2023 Iraqi University Rankings issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The ranking was based on several criteria, including program accreditation, curriculum, student-to-faculty ratio, and the departments’ positions in global rankings. The Department of Surveying Engineering was also awarded a Certificate of Appreciation in the same context.
During the ceremony, Dr. Omar Faleh Hassan, Director of the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department, presented an analysis of the University of Baghdad’s results in the 2023 Iraqi University Rankings. He highlighted the colleges that made significant progress compared to the previous rankings, noting an increase in the number of departments that achieved first place from 21 to 59. He also outlined a roadmap for preparing for the next Iraqi university ranking.
The President of the University congratulated the deans and departments that achieved first place, emphasizing that the University’s significant progress is evident in the increase in the number of top-ranking departments. He stressed the importance of completing program accreditation requirements and applying quality standards, as they help identify strengths and weaknesses, thereby facilitating the development of an updated improvement plan for each academic year.
