The Department of Water Resources Engineering organized a scientific field visit to the Al-Raid Research Station affiliated with the National Center for Water Resources Management under the supervision and sponsorship of Dr. Basem Shaba Abd, Head of the Department of Water Resources Engineering, with the participation of a number of academic staff and students.

The purpose of the visit was to familiarize the students with the sprinkler irrigation systems, drip irrigation, and the weather station at the center, focusing on the scientific and engineering aspects in order to benefit from connecting the practical field aspect with the curriculum content received by the students within the specialization.

The visit included a tour of the station to view the weather system, sprinkler and drip irrigation systems. The students received a comprehensive explanation about the systems, their operation mechanisms, and the modern technologies in the field of irrigation. They also observed fieldwork of master’s and doctoral students in the field, and visited the laboratory associated with the station where they learned about the steps for conducting soil tests, the physical properties of soil, water tests, and experiments on water quality used for irrigation. This visit was part of the educational requirements for the Principles of Irrigation and Hydrology course at the third stage to enhance practical knowledge and expand students’ horizons in the field of
