On October 24, 2023, third-year students in the Architecture Department at the University of Baghdad undertook an enriching field visit to the Abbasid Palace and the Mustansiriya School under the guidance of their professors. This visit was conducted as part of the practical requirements for the architectural preservation course.
The Abbasid Palace and the Mustansiriya School are among the most significant heritage buildings in Iraq. Therefore, the visit provided architecture students with an opportunity to understand the importance of heritage preservation. During this visit, students were able to identify the challenges of preserving historical buildings, such as neglect and the impact of environmental factors.
The aim of the visit was to instill a love for heritage and raise awareness about its significance and the methods to preserve it. The Iraqi heritage is an integral part of their identity and can introduce their country to the world. This visit reflects the dedication and commitment to heritage preservation.
