With tremendous and individual efforts and with direct support from the esteemed Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Dr. Fathi Abdlsaheb Al-Shamaa, the respected engineer’s Hamza Sadad Kazem and Saud Hamid Sweidan were able to maintain and repair the steam boiler system located in the heat laboratory in the Department of Mechanical Engineering on 3/5/2023. The maintenance work included my agencies:
1- Examination and identification of faulty parts.
2- Replace damaged parts with new parts of good quality.
3- Checking the system and making sure it works properly after replacing any inoperable parts.
4- Some parts were purchased by Eng. Hamza Sadad Kazem, such as some connecting pieces and accessories for pipes.
5- Engineer Hamza Sadad made a set of modifications to the system, using the workshop equipment.
6- Thirteen valves have been replaced and added with good quality and valves that withstand high temperatures and pressures.
7- Brackets and supports were added to the pipes to secure them well.
8- Engineering drawings have been made and added to show the work of some experiments.
This work also included the repair and rehabilitation of the following devices:
1- The device (steam nozzle) is a practical experiment given to students of the fourth stage.
2- The device (steam condenser) is a practical experiment given to students of the fourth stage.
3- The device (steam injector) is a practical experiment given to students of the fourth stage.
4- A device for measuring dryness fraction, a practical experiment given to students of the second stage.
5- A device for measuring the efficiency of thermal insulators, which is an experiment we give to students of the third stage.
Finally, a poster was made at the end of the group of practical experiments to facilitate the use of the steam boiler system in the future for the purposes of master’s and doctoral students’ research, in the event that there is such research that requires the use of the steam boiler.
May God bless all the distinguished efforts made by Engineer Hamza Sadad Kazem and Engineer Saud Hamid Suwaidan for their outstanding achievement in maintaining and repairing this system, which has been suspended and out of work for many years.
