The Engineering Journal of the College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad held an official ceremony on Sunday, May 24, 2026, to celebrate its inclusion in the global Scopus database. The event was attended by the Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul Majeed, the Assistant Deans, the Dean of the College of Artificial Intelligence, Professor Dr. Diaa Jasim, as well as editors-in-chief and a number of faculty members.

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the Iraqi national anthem and the recitation of Al-Fatiha in remembrance of Iraq’s martyrs.

The Editor-in-Chief of the Engineering Journal, Professor Dr. Nadia Adnan Shaltagh, delivered a speech emphasizing that the journal’s inclusion in Scopus is the result of sustained scientific and institutional efforts aimed at enhancing publication standards and improving research performance. She noted that this achievement was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the editorial board, researchers, and reviewers, as well as the continuous support of the University of Baghdad and the College of Engineering, which has strengthened the journal’s academic standing both nationally and internationally.

The ceremony also featured a presentation highlighting the scientific journey of the Engineering Journal and its stages of development leading to its inclusion in Scopus. The presentation reviewed the scientific and administrative efforts undertaken to improve publication quality and reinforce academic standards.

In his remarks, the Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul Majeed, praised this achievement, describing it as an important step toward strengthening the college’s international academic presence. He called for continued efforts to further develop the journal and elevate its standing in accordance with global standards.

For his part, the Dean of the College of Artificial Intelligence, Professor Dr. Diaa Jasim, commended the pioneering role of the Engineering Journal and the spirit of cooperation demonstrated by its scientific and administrative teams. He emphasized the significance of this achievement in supporting the advancement of scientific research at the University of Baghdad.

The ceremony concluded with the recognition of the journal’s contributors through the presentation of shields and certificates of appreciation in acknowledgment of their efforts in achieving this distinguished scientific accomplishment.
