The Department of Chemical Engineering, in cooperation with the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Engineering, organized a welcoming ceremony for first-year students on the occasion of the start of the new academic year.
The ceremony opened with a speech delivered by Prof. Rasha Habib Salman, Head of the Chemical Engineering Department, who welcomed the new students and provided an overview of the department’s history and its prominent role in preparing chemical engineers in Iraq and the region. She highlighted the specialized fields offered by the department in chemical, environmental, petroleum, and renewable energy industries. She also expressed her pride in welcoming a new generation of students to one of the oldest engineering departments in Iraq, encouraging them to make the most of their university years and wishing them a successful and productive academic year.
The ceremony concluded with an introduction to the Bologna Path academic system adopted in the college, followed by a tour of the department’s infrastructure and scientific laboratories, contributing to enhancing the students’ academic and practical experience throughout their university journey.
