Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul-Majeed, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Engineering, in collaboration with the Civil Engineering Department at Dijlah Private University, organized a workshop entitled “Economic Feasibility Studies for Projects and Their Role in Women’s Economic Empowerment” on Sunday, 16 November 2025, in the Mahdi Hantoush Hall.
The workshop was delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ilham Ali Al-Anouz, Director of the Women’s Affairs Unit at the college, and Dr. Maha Rashid Abdul-Hamid from Dijlah University.
The workshop aimed to empower women economically and enhance their ability to make informed decisions before starting any project, by analyzing costs, studying the market, and assessing risks, thereby increasing the likelihood of project success.
The sessions highlighted the importance of economic feasibility studies, illustrated through real-world examples and practical applications. Emphasis was placed on how feasibility studies contribute to women’s economic independence and enable them to manage their projects confidently and competently.
The workshop concluded with key recommendations, including developing women’s administrative and financial skills to build long-term capacities, creating new employment opportunities, and enhancing women’s economic role within the family and society. The event underscored the importance of such initiatives in promoting women’s empowerment and economic participation.
