Under the supervision of Professor Dr. Ayad Abdul Hamza Faisal, Head of the Department of Environmental Engineering, the department hosted a workshop on Climate Forecasts and Indicators of Climate Phenomena in the Arab Region.
Presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Haider Muhammad Abdul Hamid on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, the workshop focused on the impacts of climate change in the Arab region, highlighting phenomena such as low rainfall, increased dust and sandstorms, land degradation, and extreme temperatures.
The session also addressed the challenges posed to Iraq’s water, agricultural, and environmental sectors, with engineering solutions for mitigating these effects. Key recommendations included:
- Sustainable water consumption practices
- Land quality preservation
- Enhancing environmental awareness in society.
