Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul-Majeed, and the supervision of the Head of the Water Resources Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Basim Shaba Abed, the Department of Water Resources Engineering organized a workshop titled:
“Artificial Intelligence in the Educational Process: Fundamentals, Importance, and Its Applications”.
The workshop was managed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Rashid Thaher for postgraduate students and fourth-year undergraduate students in the Water Resources Engineering Department. It took place on Monday, December 16, 2024, in the Dijla Hall of the Water Resources Engineering Department.
The lecture presented during the workshop summarized the following key points:
We are currently living in an era of unprecedented changes and rapid transformations, during which digital technology, represented by generative artificial intelligence, demonstrates its ability to design exceptionally creative and useful content. This contributes to creating new patterns for performing tasks and providing innovative tools to accelerate achievements across various fields.
Many global studies predict that artificial intelligence technology will reshape the world within the coming years. We have already witnessed the significant role of AI in shaping how humans interact with modern technologies and machines, utilizing it as a key to future innovations characterized by diversity, flexibility, and the ability to keep pace with rapid cultural and technological transformations. This opens up broader horizons for innovation.
Based on this perspective, the workshop concluded with recommendations, including highlighting:
- Expert Systems
- Machine Learning
- The Multi-Layer Perceptron Algorithm and its role in solving water resources engineering problems.
