Department Petroleum Engineering hosted the petroleum expert Dr. Hussain Abdulhassan Sheikha to give a lecture entitled ” Development of EOR Fields SAGD Process And CO2 EOR” on Tuesday, March 29, 2022. The expert gave a valuable lecture in the field of subsidized oil production. In the lecture, he provided basic understanding of thermal recovery of oil sand and CO2 oil field development.Also, he presented the practical aspects of commercial development of SAGD pads, pad layout, drilling, completion, and production. He covers all phases of SAGD production like start up and wind-down. He also reviewed briefly the development of CO2 EOR.
Dr. Hussain Abdulhassan Sheikha is currently a reservoir engineer advisor working for Denbury Inc. on managing hasting CO2 flood and mavel conventional production.
The symposium was attended by the Head of the Department of Petroleum Engineering, Dr. Ghanem Madih Farman, and a number of faculty members and students of the department. The symposium included many interventions and discussions by faculty members and students, and it was a great scientific addition to everyone. On this occasion, the Department of Petroleum Engineering and the College of Engineering extend their thanks, appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Hussein Sheikha for accepting the invitation and giving this great lecture.
