The Department of Petroleum Engineering organized a memorial service in honor of the deceased Prof. Dr. Jalal Abdel Wahed Al-Sudani on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. The memorial service was attended by the Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Saba Jabbar Nemah, the Head of the Department of Petroleum Engineering, Dr. Ghanem Madih Farman, a number of faculty members of the department and students. The service began with a recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, read by third-year student Ali Raad. This was followed by the speech of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Saba Jabbar Nehmeh. In her speech, she recalled the merits of the deceased, his morals and his scientific role in terms of publishing research, supervising master’s and doctoral theses, and his keenness. Then, the Head of the Petroleum Engineering Department, Dr. Ghanem Madih Farman, gave his speech, in which he expressed his deep sadness at the passing away of the deceased and his prominent role in the scientific status reached by the Department of Petroleum Engineering. Prof. Dr. Faleh Muhammad delivered a speech on behalf of the faculty members and students of the Department of Petroleum Engineering. His speech included supplication and hope for the deceased for mercy and forgiveness, and that God Almighty may have mercy on him, and grant his family and relatives patience and strength. Finally, the memorial service ended with the recitation of Surat Al-Fatihah dedicated to the soul of the late Prof. Dr. Jalal Abdul Wahed Al-Sudan.
