Under the esteemed patronage of the Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul-Majeed, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the college, in collaboration with the Women’s Affairs Division at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences and the Baghdad Municipality, organized an environmental festival of flowers and plants. The event was held within the framework of the National Strategic Plan for Women, Peace, and Security – focusing on Participation and Institutional Reform.
The festival witnessed broad participation from faculty members, staff, and students across all engineering departments. The event commenced with a scientific seminar titled “The Impact of Plants on Health and the Work Environment,” presented by Dr. Sadiq Mohammed Sadiq. The seminar highlighted the importance of afforestation, green belts, and plants in promoting public health and enhancing environmental conditions, while also addressing the psychological and economic benefits of plants in work environments.
The seminar concluded with several key recommendations, most notably:

Raising public awareness about the significance of plants and afforestation.

Emphasizing the positive psychological and economic impacts of plants.

Encouraging students to adopt afforestation initiatives and engage in extracurricular environmental activities.
The festival concluded with the inauguration of the Flower and Plant Exhibition, attended by Professor Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul-Majeed, Assistant Professor Dr. Elham Ali Al-Anouz, Director of the Women’s Affairs Unit at the college, and Professor Dr. Asmaa Jameel, Director of the Women’s Affairs Division at the University Presidency.
The exhibition attracted a large number of faculty members, staff, and students. The college corridors were beautifully decorated with a diverse collection of flowers and plants, creating a vibrant environmental atmosphere and reinforcing a culture of afforestation and green spaces within the academic community.
