Within the scientific activities of the Electrical Engineering Department / College of Engineering / University of Baghdad, Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Abdul-Hadi, a faculty member in the department, presented a seminar under the title “Introduction to Machine Leaning” on Monday 13th March, 2023.
Machine learning is part of artificial intelligence that programs computers to improve the performance using example data or past experience. It is concerned with the question of how to create computer programs that automatically improve with experience and involves the development of algorithms and statistical models that enable computers to improve their performance on tasks through experience. These algorithms and models are designed to learn from data and make predictions or decisions without explicit instructions.
In the seminar, Dr. Abdullah highlighted the challenges associated with enabling on-device intelligence, particularly on edge devices. He also talked about the latest developments in machine learning algorithms and accelerators and mentioned future steps to be taken to enable on-device intelligence. He spoke about the brittleness of artificial intelligence neural networks in their current form too.
The seminar was attended by a number of faculty members in the department. They interacted with the lecturer by enriching the seminar with questions and inquiries, which were answered by Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Abdul-Hadi.
