Assistant Professor Dr. Haider Muhammad Abdul Hamid, a lecturer in the Department of Environmental Engineering, participated in the dialogue sessions on the future of the southern marshes in light of climate change on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. This was part of a scientific symposium organized by the Marshlands Research Center at Dhi Qar University under the title:

“Future Predictions of Climate Change on the Southern Marshes Environment.”

The dialogue sessions witnessed the active participation of a select group of academics and lecturers from Iraqi universities, including the University of Baghdad and Al-Qasim Green University, along with a number of researchers and interested parties from various related disciplines. The symposium targeted a diverse group of academics and researchers in the fields of environment, water resources, sociology, and economics, as well as representatives of civil society organizations and relevant government departments, such as water resources, agriculture, environment, health, and education.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Haider Mohammed Abdul Hamid participated with a research paper entitled “Future Climate Predictions and Indicators of Extreme Climate Phenomena in the Region.” The paper reviewed climate prediction models and the accuracy of future indicators in monitoring potential changes and their impacts on the Iraqi environment, including all its components and components, from air and water quality to land degradation and filtration and treatment plants. The symposium featured extensive scientific discussions, in which attendees actively participated. Views were exchanged and a set of recommendations were put forward aimed at protecting the marshlands’ environment and ensuring its sustainability, while emphasizing the importance of integrating scientific research with government policies and community efforts.
