In an atmosphere filled with faith and spirituality, and under the patronage of a distinguished academic body, the Educational and Psychological Research Center at the University of Baghdad concluded its annual Quranic competition on Thursday, March 20, 2025. The event witnessed the participation of an elite group of Quran reciters and memorizers from various university faculties, who demonstrated exceptional skills in recitation and memorization, reflecting their deep connection to the Holy Quran.

The competition was highly competitive, with participants evaluated by a specialized committee of Quranic studies professors to ensure the selection of the best candidates to represent the university in the upcoming national qualifiers. In this context, Mohammed Saad Shaaban, a student at the College of Engineering, Department of Petroleum Engineering, excelled by securing third place at the University of Baghdad level, showcasing his dedication and perseverance in Quran memorization and recitation.

The event concluded with an honorary ceremony for the winners, who were awarded certificates of appreciation and valuable prizes in recognition of their excellence in reciting the verses of the Holy Quran. The ceremony was filled with pride and joy, as the attendees expressed their happiness over this remarkable achievement.

The closing ceremony was graced by the presence of Professor Dr. Asaad Ghani Jihad, the representative of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, who praised the efforts of the students and the organizing committees, emphasizing the importance of such activities in promoting religious and cultural values within the university. Also in attendance were Professor Dr. Baha Ibrahim Ensaf, President of the University of Baghdad, members of the university council, a large gathering of academics, students, and the families of the participants, adding a special significance to the event.

These Quranic competitions are among the significant activities that contribute to strengthening the memorization and recitation of the Quran among young people, encouraging healthy competition and adherence to religious values. Holding such events within universities also helps instill cultural and spiritual values in students, deepens their connection to their Islamic heritage, and fosters a positive competitive spirit along with academic excellence.

At the end of the ceremony, attendees expressed their joy and pride in the outstanding performance of the participating students, affirming the importance of continuing such initiatives, which play a vital role in building a conscious and value-driven generation.
