Professor Dr. Farqad Ali Latif from the Department of Civil Engineering at Baghdad University won first place in the Environmental Sustainability Competition organized by the Presidency of Baghdad University, with the participation of a group of academics, researchers, and students from various university faculties.
This achievement was the result of two outstanding scientific papers. The first paper, in the field of environmental sustainability, is titled:
“Absorptive Solar Cooling Test Using Evacuated Tube Collectors under Iraq’s Climatic Conditions.”
The second paper, in the field of thermal energy, is titled:
“Thermal Analysis of a Horizontal Ground-Air Heat Exchanger in a Subtropical Climate: An Experimental Study.”
The winners were honored during a session of the University of Baghdad Council, which was attended by the University President and Deans of Faculties. The Dean of the College of Engineering received the award on behalf of Dr. Farqad in a ceremony held on Monday, February 17, 2025.
This scientific achievement is a distinguished addition to Baghdad University’s portfolio, reflecting its pioneering role in supporting scientific research in energy and sustainability and promoting innovation in vital engineering fields.
