In collaboration between the College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad, Department of Architecture, and the College of Engineering at Al-Mustansiriya University, Department of Architecture, Assistant Professor Dr. Shatha Abbas Hassan from the Department of Architecture delivered a scientific lecture titled “Developing Heritage Areas: Between Dream and Reality.”

The lecture was held at Al-Mustansiriya University following an invitation extended by the Dean of the College of Engineering, the Continuing Education Unit, and the Department of Architecture.

Dr. Shatha showcased one of the projects she contributed to developing, explaining the correct steps for revitalizing and preserving areas rich in architectural and cultural heritage. These steps included:

Accurate Digital Documentation: Collecting and analyzing data using advanced techniques.

Adopting Preservation Strategies: Ensuring the conservation of heritage elements.

Creating a 3D Model of the Area: Providing a comprehensive representation of the site.

Sustainable Rehabilitation: Focusing on architecture and urban spaces.

At the conclusion of the lecture, Professor Dr. Malek Jassim Farhan Al-Khalidi, Dean of the College of Engineering at Al-Mustansiriya University, presented a certificate of appreciation to Dr. Shatha in recognition of her efforts in delivering the lecture and for the notable interaction it sparked among students and attendees.
