InstructorAsst.Lect. Ahmed Tawfiq Mustafa from the Aeronautical Engineering Department at the University of Baghdad participated in the 7th International Conference on Mechanical Engineering Advancements, held at Yildiz University in Turkey from December 24 to 26, 2024. The instructor’s participation was with a research paper titled “Aerodynamic Analysis of SD7037 Airfoil with Flex-Skin Flap at Low Angles of Attack and Low Reynolds Numbers,” amidst a distinguished gathering of scientists and researchers from various countries. The research aimed to study the aerodynamic characteristics of the SD7037 wing with a flexible-skin flap at the trailing edge, utilizing computational fluid dynamics at low angles of attack and Reynolds numbers ranging from 200,000 to 500,000. The analysis included a diverse range of low angles of attack alongside different flap deflection angles at low angles of attack, by solving the Navier-Stokes equations using CFD tools with κ-ω SST turbulence and gamma Re-theta transition model provided by Siemens Star CCM+ software package to aid in predicting the performance of unmanned aerial vehicles during the take-off phase. The conference, held at Yildiz University, focused on discussing the latest developments in the field of mechanical engineering, providing researchers with the opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences.
