As part of fostering scientific collaboration, several professors from the Department of Surveying Engineering welcomed a group of professors and second-year students from the Department of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems at the College of Science, University of Baghdad. The visit was part of the Geodetic Land Surveying course and aimed to broaden students’ scientific horizons.
The Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Meythem Mutasher, expressed great interest in the visit and emphasized the importance of scientific communication and information sharing between academic departments. He highlighted the value of acquiring skills and leveraging them in projects that enhance knowledge.
During the visit, the students were introduced to surveying equipment, with detailed explanations on how to apply fieldwork and connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications in projects. The students expressed that such scientific visits are crucial for their learning experience. They were eager to maximize their benefit by exploring, inquiring, and linking theoretical aspects of their studies to practical applications. They also acknowledged the growing demand in the job market for surveying equipment, which plays a key role in innovative solutions for surveying tasks.
The visit emphasized the importance of organizing such qualitative activities to showcase the creativity and scientific distinction of youth, with the goal of highlighting and utilizing their innovations across various practical fields.
