It was conducted on Tuesday, 17/9/2024, in the Graduate Studies Hall of the Petroleum Engineering Department. the discussion of the master’s thesis of the student Alyaa Jalal Faleh, which is tagged:
” Computer Aided Selection of the Joining process”.
The discussion committee consisted of names listed below:

This thesis included automating the selection of the optimal joining process that accomplishes the work with high quality, without faults, at the lowest prices, and with a high production rate. For the approach to be practical and Easy to use, the selected Process Information Mapping Matrix (PRIMAs) was based on Four criteria for selection: the type of material, the quantity of production, the thickness of the material, and the degree of durability. The last two criteria were divided into Three distinct categories which need to be available as separate options. The matrix was developed with input joint type, joint position, product type, maximum and minimum thickness and Processes that Prima did not mention, such as FSW, and welding of dissimilar materials with arc welding processes were the three additional criteria that had been added
Accordingly, the thesis included recommendations including:
- Develope a computer program to select the appropriate process based on the proposed methodology.
- Use the (CA-JPS) computerized joining process selection program provides industrial engineers. The first stage is to exclude the joining process that does not fit the selected product type from among several specified parameters. In the second stage, the program arranges the operations according to selected weighted criteria that complement the first parameters using one of the multi-criteria methods, which is the hierarchical analysis method.
After the scientific discussion by the members of the discussion committee, the researcher received a rating of (very good).
