Composite material is a combination of two or more materials that have superior properties compared to the materials it consists of. Composite material is commonly used in the aerospace and automotive industries due to its light weight compared to its high strength.
In the thesis, two groups (thin plates) were used; the first one had uniform spacing, and the other had varying spacing between layers of fiber (a new technique). The new technique to improve the low-velocity impact resistance of composite materials by using different spacing between layers of fiber to distribute the impact energy more effectively, which can enhance the integrity of the structure.
Accordingly, the thesis included recommendations including:
- Enhancement in contact force at the varying spacing plate compared to uniform spacing between layers of fiber plate.
- The use of composite material made of glass fiber and epoxy improves the mechanical properties obtained experimentally in the tensile test.
After the scientific discussion by the members of the discussion committee, the researcher received a rating of (Excellent).
