Assistant Professor Dr. Dhurgham Muzhar Al-Obaidi, the Head of the Architecture Department at the University of Baghdad, participated in evaluating the master’s thesis of student Ali Saadoun Abdul-Hussein at Al-Nahrain University. The thesis, titled “Authenticity of Modern Architectural Heritage: Towards a Local Documentation and Conservation Record,” was presented on Thursday, September 12, 2024.
The thesis explored the authenticity of modern architectural heritage in Iraq, focusing on buildings from the 1950s to the 1970s. The study utilized international criteria adopted by UNESCO and DOCOMOMO, as well as modern techniques including Building Information Modeling (HBIM) and drones. The thesis concluded with important findings and recommendations that contribute to the preservation of this valuable architectural heritage.
