The College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad witnessed the public discussion of master’s student (Tuqa Hani Abd_Alamir) from the Computer Engineering Department about her thesis titled:
Hybrid Pedestrian Detection and Tracking System Using YOLO and HOG Algorithms on Thursday, 5/30/2024, in the discussion room in the Computer Engineering Department under the supervision of (Mr. Dr. Muhammad Saadoun Huthail).
An effective model for pedestrian detection and tracking is proposed by integrating multiple modules: YOLOV8, HOG, CNN, SORT algorithms. Experiments using 3 classifiers (SVM, RF, CNN) were done under various weather conditions (day, night, rain, dust, fog). The results show that the suggested model outperforms related works, making it applicable across a wide range of applications.
The aim of the study is to combine deep learning techniques with traditional methods to enhance accuracy while maintaining real-time processing capability, making it useful for various applications.
After the scientific discussion by the members of the discussion committee, listening to the researcher’s defense, and evaluating the thesis, the researcher was awarded a master’s degree in science in electronic and communications engineering/computer engineering.
