Professor Majid Habib Faydhallah from the Mechanical Engineering Department at the College of Engineering, University of Baghdad, has been awarded six patents by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control under the Ministry of Planning for his ability to create several innovative devices.

The first patent involves the creation of a device to measure the smoothness of asphalt pavement after rolling. This invention is used to test the smoothness of asphalt-paved roads and consists of a remotely controlled vehicle, either by remote control or via a mobile phone. The device checks the smoothness of the road surface after paving by sending site data to a computer linked to the testing device or by storing data in an electronic storage chip within the device itself. The device has been practically designed, implemented, and tested on a paved road, demonstrating its efficiency.

The second patent is for the design, manufacture, and calibration of a dual orthogonal bending fatigue tester. This invention tests mechanical parts such as bevel gear shafts under the influence of dual orthogonal bending fatigue moments. The device has been designed, manufactured, and calibrated, showing a maximum error rate of 8% compared to the standard cyclic fatigue device.

The third patent involves the design and manufacture of a device to measure noise from gears. The device measures noise from machinery and equipment using an external Geneva wheel made of metallic and non-metallic materials. Results indicated that using composite materials like polyester with eggshell powder reduces noise.

The fourth patent is for the manufacture of an adaptive shoe. The shoe features cooling and heating systems that operate according to the weather and is equipped with a suitable battery, making it healthier and more comfortable compared to traditional shoes at a low cost.

The fifth patent involves the creation of a fire protection system for elevator cabins. This system is designed to protect elevator cabins from fires and includes thermal sensors that automatically activate foam and water sprinklers when the temperature rises. It also features fans for air circulation inside the cabin and an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system to ensure continuous operation during power outages.

The sixth patent is for the manufacture of an automatic whiteboard. This self-moving whiteboard operates electrically and can be controlled remotely. It includes a camera for recording lectures, speakers, a microphone, and alert sensors. The whiteboard also features an electronic display for showing the time and date and a charging system to ensure continued operation during power outages.
