On March 18, 2024, the College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad organized an on-site workshop titled “Golden Rules and Advanced Considerations for Failure-Free Design of Chemical Reactors.” This workshop, held under the patronage of the respected Dean of the College of Engineering, aimed to enhance the competitive skills of students in the job market as part of the scientific activities of the Chemical Engineering Department.
Led by esteemed professionals in the field, including Professor Dr. Ammar Saleh Abbas from the University of Baghdad’s Chemical Engineering Department, Engineer Mariam Ibrahim from the Iraqi Ministry of Oil, Lecturer Sundus Kareem Abulhad from the Office of the Scientific Assistant at the Presidency of the University of Baghdad, and Senior Engineer Fatima Hameed Kamel from the Iraqi Ministry of Industry and Minerals, the workshop delved into critical aspects of chemical reactor engineering.
Held in the Dr. Mahmoud Omar Hall, the workshop was attended by department members, graduate students from various university colleges, as well as guests from the Ministries of Oil and Industry. Participants gained insights into fundamental concepts of chemical reactor engineering, including reactor types, basic design equations, and key kinetic reaction equations.
The workshop also provided essential skills to avoid errors in reactor design and discussed methods to reduce reactors’ susceptibility to chemical substances through coating. By addressing these topics, the workshop aimed to equip attendees with practical knowledge and competitive skills essential for success in the job market.”
