The Department of Computer Engineering at the University of Baghdad, under the auspices of the Deanship of the College of Engineering, held a symposium entitled:
“Cybersecurity and vulnerability assessment”
It was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Alaa Muhammad Abd al-Hadi on Thursday, 3/14/2024, in the discussion room in the department, in the presence of the Head of the Department Assist. Prof. Dr. Firas Ali Saber, in addition to a number of the department’s teaching staff. The symposium included a discussion of the importance of cybersecurity at the present time in order to use the Internet in every aspect of our lives, from financial matters to national security. A number of developments and updates in this field were also discussed. The aim of the symposium was to shed light on security vulnerabilities, their types, and how to classify them and exploit them by the cyberattack attacker to achieve the goal he seeks. The symposium came up with a number of recommendations, including the need to ensure that mobile phones, personal computers, and networks are protected from external threats, and this is the job performed by professionals who work as cybersecurity vulnerability assessors. The importance of the mechanism used to find and analyze security vulnerabilities, and then use the reports resulting from the analysis to close these vulnerabilities and avoid successful attacks targeting the system, was also discussed.
