Under the patronage of the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Asst.Prof. Dr.Kareem Hassan, and in cooperation between the Deanship of the College of Engineering and the Department of Diwan Affairs at the University of Baghdad, the Mechanical Engineering Department organized on Tuesday, 3/12/2024, a scientific visit for fourth-year students to the South Baghdad Thermal Power Station affiliated with the Ministry of Electricity. The students were accompanied by Prof. Dr. Karima Ismail Amouri and Prof. Dr.Abdullah Dhayea Assi, and they were received by the station supervisor, Engineer Asst. Prof. Qusay Abdullah Rasoul and a group of station engineers and officials. The visit included a valuable theoretical lecture on the components and operation of the simple and combined thermal turbine station, followed by a visit to the compressor system, combustion chamber, and control room in one of the turbine units. This visit comes within the efforts of the Deanship of the College to develop the student’s skills, enrich their practical side, and inform them of the actual fields of work in a way that contributes to motivating them and exerting their maximum potential during their university studies.
