Based on the directives of the Prime Minister, and under the supervision of the Deanship of the College of Engineering, and from the standpoint of informing the college’s members and students about the cultural heritage of our dear country, the Department of Energy Engineering at the College of Engineering, University of Baghdad, organized on Tuesday, 26/12/2023, a visit to the Iraqi National Museum in Baghdad. Fourth-year students participated in this visit and were accompanied by a number of department teachers and engineers, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Nibal Fadel Farman, Head of the Energy Engineering Department. The students viewed the museum’s exhibits, which represent the bright history of Iraq and the immortal human civilizations in the land of Mesopotamia. The Iraqi Museum is considered one of the oldest, most important and largest museums in Iraq. Its establishment dates back to 1923 and includes many artifacts from successive civilizations as well as Islamic antiquities in Iraq. The students, accompanied by tour guides, wandered around the museum and saw artifacts that told stories of a history extending up to five thousand years. The National Museum in Baghdad represents one of the most important cultural centers in the world regarding the study of ancient civilizations and the stages of human development in writing, agriculture, and legal legislation. This is precisely what young people are looking for today, lines extending back to an ancient past from which they can derive strength and determination to build the present and strengthen their national identity.
