The Department of Surveying Engineering organized a scientific trip for the top students of the department to Al-Faw Grand Port and the Sports City in Basra, with a total of 21 students. On Monday, December 25, 2023, a group of department professors in cooperation with the Scientific Care Department/Ministry of Youth and Sports accompanied the students.
This scientific trip included a field visit to Al-Faw Port to learn about the latest projects implemented there. The port was built over an area of 54 km and has the capacity to receive ships with a draft of 19 meters that have not previously reached the country’s ports. The professors and students expressed their admiration for this great achievement and explained the most important surveying equipment used to create it. This scientific visit also included a visit to the sports city facilities and how the ground foundations of the stadium were made using surveying equipment, guiding, and encouraging students in their field of work.
