The Department of Electrical Engineering at the College of Engineering, University of Baghdad, organized a reception for first-year students in the presence of the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Dr. Firas Mohammed Tuaimah, the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Wamidh Nizar Falih, and a number of department faculty members and students in the hall of Professor Mahdi Hantoush, on Tuesday, October 28th, 2023.
The celebration began with a speech delivered by the Department Head, congratulating the students on their acceptance into this prestigious college and department. He reviewed to them the most important goals and visions of the Electrical Engineering Department and provided them with advice and guidance for excellence and success during their upcoming academic career. He also explained to them the curriculum for the four stages and the summer training, as well as the scientific, artistic, sports and social activities that the department organizes for students.
After that, the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs gave a speech in which he provided some guidance to the first-year students. Assistant Professor Dr. Bassem Muhammad Hassan, a faculty member in the Department of Electrical Engineering, also gave an explanatory lecture on the Bologna system applied this year in the College of Engineering, through which he explained the importance of the Bologna educational path represented by the number of scheduled hours for each semester and unscheduled hours, the mechanism for dividing them, and what the mechanism for dividing hours and the degree of pursuit represents for each subject according to its specificity and other application requirements. The adoption of the Bologna Process is an important factor in enhancing the quality of education in Iraq.
At the end of the celebration, a simple hospitality was provided to celebrate the new students and to welcome them to their college and department.
