It was conducted on Thursday, 26/10/2023, in hall Dr. Munther Al-Droubi the discussion of the master’s thesis of the student Ansam Akeel Mohammed, which is tagged:

“Thermal Performance of an Air-Conditioning System in the Absence and Presence of Liquid-Suction Heat Exchanger “.

The discussion committee consisted of names listed below:

1- Prof. Dr. Issam Mohammed Ali (Chairman)

2- Asst.Prof. Dr Mahmoud Sh. Mohamoud (Member)

3- Lect. Dr. Raed G. Saihood (Member)

4-Lect. Dr. Wail Sami Wadee (Supervisor)

The aim of the thesis was to present an experimental comparative performance analysis of an automotive air conditioning system using low global warming potential R1234yf as an alternative refrigerant to R134a to decrease the ozone depletion potential and global warming potential with and without liquid suction heat exchanger to increase the performance of the system and decreased the power consumption.

Accordingly, the thesis included recommendations including:

1- The COP enhanced when LSHX was added by 7.5%, 20.13% and 3.09% for the first, second and third speed respectively when R134a was used, while when R1234yf was used increasing values were 6.6% for the first speed and 28.5% for the second speed. Refrigeration effect increased when LSHX was added by 5.36%, 4.9% and 4.54% for the first, second and third speed respectively when R134a was used, while the increment values were 8.9% and 10.89% for the first and second speed respectively for system working with R1234yf.

2- The exergy efficiency of the system including R134a was higher than the system working with R1234yf by 20.1% and 14.7% for the first and second speed respectively.

3- The Power consumption of system working with R134a was less than that of R1234yf by 8.2% for the first speed and 6.5% for the second speed respectively.

4- the system using LSHX was more efficient than the system without with using R134a which has high thermal performance than the system working with R1234yf.

After the scientific discussion by the members of the discussion committee, the researcher received a rating of (very good).
