Abstract:
This study focused on investigating the use of perforated reinforced concrete gable beams for supporting the roofs of warehouses, industrial buildings, and aircraft hangars. The research aimed to determine the optimal design of these beams by analyzing the effects of inclination angle, number, and size of web openings on their bending behavior. The study found that adding openings reduced maximum load capacity but increased deflection. Changing the column inclination angle improved the structural behavior. Increasing the number of openings while maintaining the same total area enhanced load capacity and reduced deflection. Finite element analysis confirmed the experimental results. The dissertation was accepted with a “Very Good” grade after committee discussion.
